Sarastar for IT teams

Most people install Sarastar themselves, in their own user folder, with no admin rights. For managed PCs, IT teams can deploy it centrally and lock settings with policies.

Choose an installer

Both are on the portal's Downloads page, with SHA-256 fingerprints for checking.

Policies

Sarastar reads policies at start-up from the Windows registry, under HKLM\Software\Policies\Sarastar and then HKCU\Software\Policies\Sarastar. On a Mac, use a configuration profile for com.sarastar.app.

Policy	What it does
DisableUpdates	Turns off automatic updates
UpdateChannel	Keeps PCs on the stable channel
MaxOfflineDays	Limits how long users can check out a licence for offline work
CrashReports	Sets crash reports to off, ask or on
Analytics	Set to 0 to turn off usage analytics

Users see locked settings marked Set by your IT department.

Network access

Sarastar needs HTTPS access to:

• sarastar.com.au and its subdomains, to sign in and refresh licences
• *.r2.cloudflarestorage.com, where installers and updates are downloaded from

Sarastar uses the Windows proxy settings. If your proxy needs a Windows sign-in, automatic updates may fail; Sarastar then offers to download the installer instead.

Each PC must connect at least once every 30 days, or for the offline period it was checked out for.
