Your licence

Your licence lets you design in Sarastar on up to two PCs at a time. You can see it on the portal's Overview and Licences pages, and in Sarastar's Account page.

Kinds of licence

Licence	Who has it
Alpha tester	People testing early builds by invitation
Beta	People testing the beta
Trial	Anyone trying Sarastar for a limited time
Education	Students and teaching staff
Subscription	Paid, renewed each period
Perpetual	Paid once. You keep getting the versions released while its maintenance is current.
Organisation licence	A seat your company gives you. See Companies, people and roles.

Your licence also decides which builds you can download: alpha, beta or stable.

PCs

A licence is active on up to two PCs at a time. Signing in on a third shows This licence is already active on 2 PCs. Deactivate one you no longer use first; see PCs and sign-ins.

Staying connected

Sarastar checks your licence in the background when it starts and every 12 hours. It must reach Sarastar at least once every 30 days. Before a trip without internet, you can check in for longer; see Work offline.

Before your licence runs out

Sarastar warns you 14, 7, 3 and 1 days before editing stops, whether because the licence ends or because it hasn't connected for too long:

Editing stops in 7 days. Connect so Sarastar can refresh your licence.

In the portal, licences ending within 30 days are marked Expiring soon. To renew, contact us.

When a licence ends, Sarastar doesn't close or touch your files. It switches to view-only mode.

Pre-release builds expire too

Alpha builds stop editing 120 days after they're built, and beta builds after 180 days, even with a current licence. Sarastar then asks you to download the current version. Updating keeps this from happening; see How Sarastar updates.

Drawings you export or print from a pre-release build are marked ALPHA - NOT FOR PRODUCTION or BETA - NOT FOR PRODUCTION.
