PCs and sign-ins
See where Sarastar is running, free up a PC, sign out an app, move to a new PC, and work offline.
The portal's PCs and sign-ins page (under You in the sidebar) shows every PC using your licence and every place you're signed in.
Deactivate or sign out?
| Deactivate a PC | Sign out an app | |
|---|---|---|
| Frees the PC's place on your licence | Yes | No |
| The PC can keep editing | No: view-only at its next licence check | Until its licence needs refreshing |
| Use it when | You've replaced a PC, or hit the two-PC limit | A PC is lost, or you want to end a sign-in |
Deactivate a PC
- Open PCs and sign-ins.
- In PCs using your licences, find the PC and choose Deactivate.
- Confirm.
The PC gives back its place straight away and opens in view-only mode at its next licence check. You can also deactivate the PC you're on from Sarastar: open the Account page and choose Deactivate this PC.
Sign out an app
In Signed-in apps, choose Sign out next to the PC. If you're signed in on more than one, Sign out everywhere ends them all.
Move to a new PC
- On the old PC, open Sarastar's Account page and choose Deactivate this PC. If you no longer have the old PC, deactivate it from the portal instead.
- Install Sarastar on the new PC and sign in.
Your licence follows you: settings stay on each PC, but the licence goes wherever you sign in.
Work offline
Sarastar needs to connect at least once every 30 days. If you'll be away from the internet for longer:
- While you're still online, open Sarastar's Account page.
- In Working offline, choose how long you need (7, 14 or 30 days), then choose Prepare.
The portal shows that PC as Checked out until it reconnects. Your IT team may set a shorter limit.
The Must reconnect by column shows when each PC next needs to go online.
