Yes. The public beta is free, and alpha testers who qualify get their first 12 months after general release free (see the Alpha Tester Agreement).
Named licences suit people who use Sarastar most days. Usage pools suit teams where many people use it some of the time: anyone can work at once, and you pay only for active hours, with a daily cap and a monthly ceiling per person. Your administrator gets a monthly report suggesting a named licence for anyone who would save with one.
By default, alerts go to your administrator at 75, 90 and 100%. When the pool is empty, people get time to save their work and Sarastar switches to view-only until the pool is topped up. Administrators can instead allow work to continue and have the extra hours billed monthly at the same rate.
A perpetual licence is yours to keep. It includes 12 months of updates; after that, maintenance is optional. If you stop paying for maintenance, Sarastar keeps working on the last version released while it was active. You can rejoin later for a flat fee, with no back-billing.
No. Sarastar checks your licence offline and only needs a connection every 30 days, or up to 90 days if you prepare for site work before you go. Sites that never connect can activate by exchanging a file.
Your projects stay on your computers. Sarastar never uploads project files, and optional usage statistics never include file names, coordinates or other mine data.
