Install Sarastar
Download the installer for your computer from the portal and install it. No admin rights needed.
Sarastar is installed from the Downloads page of the portal. You need a Sarastar account with a licence: during the alpha, accounts are by invitation.
What you need
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, or macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon
- A graphics card that supports Vulkan
- An internet connection to sign in, and at least once every 30 days after that
Download the installer
- Sign in to the portal.
- In the sidebar, under You, choose Downloads.
- The Recommended for this computer card shows the best build for you. Choose Download installer (Download disk image on a Mac).
You only see the builds your licence covers. Alpha testers see Alpha builds, beta testers Beta builds, and everyone else Stable releases.
Which file to choose

| Installer | Almost always. It installs in your user folder, needs no admin rights and updates itself. |
| MSI package | Your IT team is installing Sarastar on many PCs at once. It installs for everyone on the PC. See Sarastar for IT teams. |
| Disk image | You're on a Mac. Open it and drag Sarastar to Applications. |

Check the download (optional)
Each file shows the start of its SHA-256 fingerprint, with a button to copy the whole value. If your IT team checks downloads, they can compare it with the file you downloaded.
Install
Run the installer and follow the steps. When it finishes, open Sarastar and sign in.
