Companies, people and roles
Set up a company in the portal, add people, and decide what each person can do.
Everyone starts with a personal account. A company is an organisation in the portal that holds licences for its people. You can belong to several, which suits consultants and contractors.
Switch between your personal account and your companies with the switcher at the top of the portal's sidebar.
Create a company
There are two ways:
- Start a new company: in the sidebar switcher, choose Create a company. You become its owner.
- Turn your personal account into a company: in Settings, choose Turn into company. The company keeps your licences, PCs and history, and you get a fresh personal account.
Add the company's name and, if you like, its ABN in Settings.
Roles

Only owners can make someone an owner or remove one. A company always needs at least one owner, so the last owner can't leave until they've made someone else an owner.
Add people
- Open People and choose Add person.
- Enter their email address, choose a role and, if you use sites, their sites.
- Choose Add person.
If they already have a Sarastar account, they join straight away. Otherwise they're invited, and join when they first sign in with that email address.
Invitations last 30 days. From the person's row you can Extend 30 days, Invite again or Revoke.
Remove someone, or leave
- Remove someone: in People, open their row and choose Remove from organisation. Any seat they held becomes unassigned.
- Leave a company: in Settings, choose Leave organisation.
Seats
A company's licences are seats that admins give to people.
- On Licences, use Assign…, Move to someone else… or Unassign.
- When a seat moves, the previous holder's PCs switch to view-only straight away. Sarastar tells them Your organisation moved this licence to someone else.
- A seat can move again 30 days after its last move.
Bring your personal licence into a company
If you already had a personal licence and join a company, the company's Licences page shows Your personal licence with Move into company or Keep it personal. Moving it brings its PCs and history too, and it stays with the company if you later leave.
The portal address
Each company has its own address in the portal, such as portal.sarastar.com.au/acme-mining. Owners and admins can change it in Settings under Portal address. Old links keep working.
